Dynamic DNS is a system for allowing an Internet domain name (something.com) to be assigned to a dynamic (one that changes and is not always the same) IP address. Since the dynamic IP address changes, Dynamic DNS makes it possible for other computers on the Internet to establish connections to that machine without needing to know the actual IP address.
The IP address is tracked using No-IP’s Dynamic Update Client (DUC) software. When the address changes, the DNS record is automatically updated and connections made to the domain name get sent to the correct IP address regardless of what it’s changed to. The IP address can also be sent by any DDNS capable device such as a router or DVR. For more information, check our guide: https://www.noip.com/support/knowledgebase/how-to-configure-ddns-in-router/
